Baseball Recap: Dunbar's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Dunbar had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Academy for College and Career Exploration an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Poets, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Justice Buie, who earned three runs and five stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Donovan Jordan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dunbar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Dunbar pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Academy for College and Career Exploration, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
