Basketball Game Preview: Elder Panthers vs. Wyoming Cowboys

The Elder Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Wyoming Cowboys at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Elder fought the good fight in their overtime match against Archbishop Moeller on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (49-44), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. While they didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Fighting Crusaders 8-2 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Wyoming put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Deer Park 67-31. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Wyoming pushed their record up to 16-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.5 points. As for Elder, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

Elder didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Wyoming in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 50-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elder since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
