Recap: Kingstree Blazers vs. Andrew Jackson Volunteers
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Kingstree Blazers can now relate to. They were outmatched by Andrew Jackson on the road and fell 51-20. Kingstree's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Kingstree's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'Shaun Dorsey, who rushed for 100 yards on only 13 carries, and also threw for 189 yards and a touchdown. Javian Mccrea was in the mix as well, providing Kingstree with two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Trey Thompson, who rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Thompson is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Brady Williams was another key contributor, throwing for 242 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Kingstree's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Andrew Jackson, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Kingstree does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Andrew Jackson will head out on the road to face off against Hampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hampton County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
