Football Game Preview: Lone Oak Buffaloes vs. Prairiland Patriots

The Lone Oak Buffaloes are taking a road trip to take on the Prairiland Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lone Oak is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 37 points per game this season.

Lone Oak will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points back in September, then bounced right back against Chisum last Friday. The Buffaloes blew past the Mustangs 55-32. Considering the Buffaloes have won three games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Slayde Parnell was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns. What's more, he racked up 16 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Max Ramirez got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Lone Oak, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Daniel Barahona, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Lone Oak didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Peyton Jackson and Moi Perez.

Meanwhile, Prairiland can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Chisum by a score of 17-6.

The win got Prairiland back to even at 3-3. As for Lone Oak, their record is now 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Lone Oak against Prairiland when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 35-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffaloes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
