Preview: Fayette County Tigers vs. Huffman Vikings
The Fayette County Tigers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Huffman Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on December 19th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, the stars were shining brightly for Fayette County in a 50-36 win over McIntosh. Given Fayette County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while McIntosh is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christian McAllister was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Fayette County's points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Rutley, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Huffman fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Central 54-52.
Fayette County pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.6 points per game. As for Huffman, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.
