Baseball Recap: West Field's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

West Field won against Salem Hills on Saturday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Longhorns came out on top against the Weber Warriors by a score of 9-4. The win was familiar territory for the Longhorns, who have now won four contests in a row.

Kanyon Pratt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since April 4th. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, Brady Penland was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Samuel Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

West Field was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive matches.

West Field's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Weber, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.

West Field will face off against Timpanogos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weber, they will square off against Davis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Darts have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
