The Granite Hills Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Ramona Convent Tigers at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Granite Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-11 margin over Santa Rosa Academy. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.
Britney Zuniga made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Zuniga was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Emily Marks was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Mylie Shepard, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and three RBI.
Granite Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Rosa Academy only posted an OBP of .415.
Meanwhile, Ramona Convent gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Flintridge Prep with a sharp 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the game before.
Like Granite Hills, Ramona Convent also got a great game from a two-way player: Madison Garcia. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Garcia has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Ramona Convent got a massive performance out of Citlali Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Chloe Gonzalez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Ramona Convent's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 17-9. As for Granite Hills, their record now sits at 16-7.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Granite Hills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .489. However, it's not like Ramona Convent struggles in that department as they've averaged .419. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
