Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph's Prep Hawks vs. William Penn Charter Quakers

The St. Joseph's Prep Hawks will square off against the William Penn Charter Quakers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Joseph's Prep will be strutting in after a victory while William Penn Charter will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Joseph's Prep is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since March 31st on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hill School, sneaking past 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Tommy Murtha, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chris Steinmetz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

William Penn Charter couldn't beat Holy Ghost Prep on Wednesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the seventh inning. The Quakers fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 9-8. The Quakers haven't had much luck with the Firebirds recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

William Penn Charter's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for St. Joseph's Prep, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

St. Joseph's Prep beat William Penn Charter 11-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Quakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
