Basketball Recap: Aubrey Victorious

Aubrey won the last time they faced Gainesville, and Addy Cagle did her part to make sure it happened again. The Aubrey Chaparrals managed a 31-27 win over the Gainesville Leopards on Friday thanks in part to Cagle, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two).

Aubrey's victory bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Gainesville, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

Aubrey and Gainesville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Aubrey will take on Sanger at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 738 places (1008 vs. 270). Similarly, Gainesville (ranked 954th) will meet Panther Creek (ranked 87th) at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
