Basketball Recap: Oliver Neumann Key Part of Team Effort in Saints Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plateau Valley, Vail Christian was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They skirted past the Rangely Panthers 58-55. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Saints considering their 23-point performance the contest before.

Vail Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Oliver Neumann led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Neumann a new career-high in assists (four). Rayman Romanin was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Vail Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rangely only six assists.

Rangely lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Marcos Quintana, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Clay Allred, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Vail Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points over those games. Rangely dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Vail Christian has already played their next game, a 50-34 defeat against Buena Vista on the 11th. As for Rangely, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-52 win against De Beque on the 14th.
