Southern had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Belpre on Wednesday. The Tornadoes were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Golden Eagles. Considering the Tornadoes have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Southern is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Belpre, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern will challenge Gallia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Belpre, they will take on Waterford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
