Volleyball Recap: Aberdeen Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Sturgis Brown on Saturday, Aberdeen Central came back down to earth. The Golden Eagles came up short against the Lincoln Patriots on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Golden Eagles have suffered since November 22, 2024.

While Aberdeen Central was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-21, 25-18.

Lauryn Burckhard paced Aberdeen Central's offense, picking up nine kills. Burckhard got some help from Alivia Miller and her 13 assists.

Lincoln can attribute much of their success to Julia Blom, who had 11 digs and two aces. Blom has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.

The defeat snapped Aberdeen Central's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-2 record. As for Lincoln, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Aberdeen Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Washington on the 18th. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Pierre T.F. Riggs on the 18th.
