Hunter Greene of Notre Dame (SO) (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) is expected to be the first high school player chosen in the Major League Baseball Draft, which gets underway at 6 p.m. Eastern time Monday. If that happens, it will follow a trend that has emerged over the last 25 years of the draft.

Greene is a right-handed pitcher from California. Over the past 25 years, right-handed pitchers have been chosen in the first round more than any other position. Likewise, California preps outnumber every other state for producing first round talent.
