Volleyball Recap: East Duplin Comes Up Short

If East Duplin was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Richlands on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers came up short against the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Panthers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

East Duplin took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 25-22.

Their offense was headlined by Zoe Cavenaugh and Kinsey Cave, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Bennett Holley and her 12 assists. Finally, Cave was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

East Duplin's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, East Duplin will take on North Duplin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they will face off against Pender at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
