Baseball Recap: Tri Comes Up Short

Tri extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They lost 12-5 to the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles. If the Titans were looking for revenge after losing 9-2 to the Golden Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Karter Lunsford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kain Knepley, who earned three RBI and one stolen base.

As for Cambridge City Lincoln, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

On Cambridge City Lincoln's side, they let Carson Hawk and Dustin Lunsford run wild. Hawk got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Lunsford went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four stolen bases gave Hawk a new career-high. Gage Sherwood also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri will take on North Decatur at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they will challenge Richmond at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
