Final 2017 MaxPreps Small Schools National Baseball Rankings

Central Heights wins Texas 3A title, finishes season at No. 1.

Central Heights (Nacogdoches, Texas) was nearly untouchable during the 2017 season and as a result finishes atop the MaxPreps Small Schools National Baseball Rankings.

The Blue Devils outscored opponents 337-61 this year in winning the Texas 3A state championship. The title is the first for Central Heights since 2004. The Blue Devils lost once in the regular season and one other time in the playoffs, while also posting a 10-0 five-inning win over Wall in the state title game.

Central Heights edges out Savannah Christian (Ga.), which beat Tattnall Square Academy (Macon, Ga.). Tattnal, which is ranked No. 21 in the rankings, lost to Savannah Christian for the Georgia Class A private school state championship. Binger-Oney (Binger, Okla.), which was No. 1 at mid-season, comes in at No. 3 after winning the Oklahoma Class 1A state title.

The rankings are based on the MaxPreps computer rankings. Each team is listed with its overall record and its computer rating. Small schools are those that play in state enrollment divisions that generally include schools with less than 1,000 students.
