Softball Preview: Libertyville Wildcats vs. Lakes Eagles        
        
		
            
 The Libertyville Wildcats will head out on the road to  challenge  the Lakes Eagles at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Both teams come into the  contest bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 Libertyville can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent  matchup  on Wednesday. They blew past Zion-Benton 9-1. The  victory was a breath of fresh air for Libertyville as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
  Taylor Higham made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 14 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   eight  hits. Higham was also solid in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with a  stolen base, two  RBI,  and a  double.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Emily Psyhogios, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.  Maddy Kleeman was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI.
 Meanwhile, Lakes had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers  a   15-0 shutout.
 Libertyville's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Lakes, they now  have a winning record of 7-6.
 Everything went Libertyville's way against Lakes when the teams last played  back in May of 2023 as Libertyville made off with  a  14-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Libertyville since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
