Basketball Game Preview: Beloit Trojans vs. Republic County Buffaloes

Beloit has gone 9-1 against Republic County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Beloit Trojans will be home for the holidays to greet the Republic County Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m.

Beloit is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Southeast of Saline on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Beloit was outmatched by Southeast of Saline and fell 66-31. Beloit was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-21.

Despite the defeat, Beloit got top-tier performance from Cassandra Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Thompson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Wright, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, Republic County can finally bid farewell to their 22-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 37-26 win over Ell-Saline.

Beloit now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Republic County, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Beloit took their win against Republic County in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 62-39. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Republic County's Avery Stindt, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Beloit still be able to contain Stindt? There's only one way to find out.
