There's no place like home for Florence, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 27-2 margin over the Coolidge Bears on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Gophers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Florence's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayron Neal, who rushed for 187 yards and one score on only ten carries. Neal also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making seven total tackles and defending one pass. Brody Ramirez was another key player, rushing for 57 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Florence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 452 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Florence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Wyatt Stenson and Keantum Greeley. Zayden Cundiff was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Florence's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Coolidge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Florence will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Shadow Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Coolidge, they will face off against ALA - Mesa North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears are facing the Mavericks at the right time seeing as the Mavericks are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
