Softball Game Preview: White Oak Roughnecks vs. Whitesboro

The White Oak Roughnecks will take on Whitesboro on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

White Oak is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Atlanta 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Roughnecks have posted since March 12th.

Meanwhile, Whitesboro waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Red Raiders 11-1. The result was nothing new for Whitesboro, who have now won 21 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Avery Howerton made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Breighlin Rupert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
