Softball Recap: Au Gres-Sims Comes Up Short

Au Gres-Sims had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it five. They came up short against the Alcona Tigers, falling 16-6. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 10-2.

As for Alcona, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Alcona's part, they got a massive performance out of Elliyana Grimshaw, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Nyhia Jackson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Au Gres-Sims will challenge rival Hale at 4:00 p.m. on May 4. Meanwhile, Alcona is set to square off against their familiar foe Hillman at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
