Basketball Recap: Cape Cod Academy Seahawks vs. Monomoy Sharks
This season hasn't been kind to the Cape Cod Academy Seahawks, who are still winless after their 16th match. They took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monomoy on Friday. While losing is never fun, Cape Cod Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Sharks are ranked 85th).
Cape Cod Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikey Santos, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Jameson Cassidy, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Cape Cod Academy's loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Monomoy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Cape Cod Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Vineyarders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monomoy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Skippers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
