In what's become a running theme this season, Casa Roble gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They really took it to Woodland for the full four quarters, racking up a 89-48 win at home. Given Casa Roble's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 427th, while Woodland is ranked 1201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Casa Roble relied on the efforts of Benny Ambriz, who scored 17 points along with three steals, and Ace Villegas, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Ambriz is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 21 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston Scott, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Casa Roble used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Woodland. And. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Edgar Rocha scored three points, while he scored eight points.
Sutter only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 50-point they dealt Lindhurst on Friday. Sutter blew past Lindhurst, posting a 76-26 win at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sutter.
Sutter had a senior duo take command as Naseem Bhatti scored 12 points and Diego Belmonte scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Belmonte has scored all season. Rylen Rahul was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Casa Roble is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. As for Sutter, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Casa Roble have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sutter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Casa Roble came up short against Sutter when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 70-66. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sutter's Jagger Beck, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 19 rebounds. Now that Casa Roble knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
