Preview: Middlesex Chargers vs. King William Cavaliers

The Middlesex Chargers will head out on the road to take on the King William Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Middlesex has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 250 points over their last three contests.

Middlesex put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 83-56 win over West Point at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-23.

Middlesex's success was spearheaded by the efforts of JaQuan Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists, and Malik Dandy, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Layne, who scored six points along with five assists.

Meanwhile, King William pushed their score all the way to 66 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Carver College and Career Academy 99-66. While losing is never fun, King William can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Carver College and Career Academy is ranked 175th).

Middlesex's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.1 points per game. As for King William, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Middlesex beat King William 76-66 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middlesex since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
