Softball Recap: Velva/Drake/Anamoose Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Velva/Drake/Anamoose dropped their record down to 8-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell 7-2 to the Beulah Miners. The matchup marked the Aggies' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Emma Balas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

As for Beulah, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

Like Velva/Drake/Anamoose, Beulah also got a great game from a two-way player: Addie Dale-Geiger. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Dale-Geiger was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Elli Weidner was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Hadlee Ost also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Velva/Drake/Anamoose will take on rival Garrison at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Beulah is set to face off against their familiar foe Nedrose at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
