Baseball Game Preview: Rim of the World Fighting Scots vs. Arroyo Valley Hawks

For the second straight game, Rim of the World will face off against Arroyo Valley. The Fighting Scots will face off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Rim of the World will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

On Wednesday, Rim of the World didn't have quite enough to beat Arroyo Valley and fell 10-8. The Fighting Scots haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For Arroyo Valley's part, Jake Jimenez was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Jimenez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Carlos Perez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Jorge Reyes was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Arroyo Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Rim of the World, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
