Softball Game Preview: Pewaukee Pirates vs. Greendale Panthers

The Pewaukee Pirates will square off against the Greendale Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Greendale is facing Pewaukee at the wrong time: Pewaukee suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 13-1. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pewaukee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mya Bloedow, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Greendale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Vikings. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Ayla Krecklow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Greendale's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Pewaukee, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pewaukee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Greendale struggles in that department as they've averaged .386. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
