Baseball Game Preview: Caldwell Chiefs vs. Cedar Grove Panthers

The Caldwell Chiefs will head out on the road to face off against the Cedar Grove Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Caldwell's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Cedar Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Caldwell is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Verona just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 8-4 to the Hillbillies.

Meanwhile, Cedar Grove fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bloomfield on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 9-8. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bengals 4-0 in the first period.

Cedar Grove's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Caldwell, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 13-2.

Caldwell was able to grind out a solid victory over Cedar Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 9-4. Do the Chiefs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
