Basketball Recap: Holy Trinity Takes a Loss

Holy Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds, falling 60-34. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while the Firebirds are ranked 219th).

Despite the defeat, Holy Trinity saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kiera Kozlowski went 6-for-10 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. Kozlowski continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Lily Brussell also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Holy Trinity was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Holy Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Kellenberg Memorial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Holy Trinity will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Mary's at 12:00 p.m. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. Kellenberg Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
