Baseball Recap: Halstead Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hillsboro on Thursday, Halstead came back down to earth. The Dragons took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Thursday. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 14-4.

Halstead saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Diehl, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Diehl has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played.

Halstead's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Hillsboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Halstead will host Smoky Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.83 runs per game on average), something the Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hillsboro, they will take on Larned at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
