Football Recap: Pomona Red Devils vs. Ontario Jaguars
Pomona lost against Ontario back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Red Devils were beaten by the Jaguars 50-13. The Red Devils were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Moises Lua threw for 80 yards and one touchdown. Destin Tilman was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards and one score.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Andrew Wilson and Samuel Abajuo. Wilson rushed for 160 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.4 yards per carry while Abajuo rushed for 103 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Wilson a new career-high.
Pomona's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Ontario, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.
Looking ahead, Pomona will be playing at home against Sierra Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils are facing the Dons at the right time seeing as the Dons are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Ontario, they will venture away from home to square off against Azusa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars will be up against the Aztecs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
