Basketball Recap: Goodrich Comes Up Short

Goodrich was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 33rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the High Island Cardinals, falling 50-20. The Hornets lost against the Cardinals in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 34-33 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Goodrich lost, don't look at Sky Wrightson. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points.

It was another big night for Cam'Ron Medina, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds for High Island. That makes it six consecutive games in which Medina has scored at least a third of High Island's points. Another player making a difference was Leif Larson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards.

Goodrich's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for High Island, with the victory, they broke their 13-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-18.

It'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Goodrich Hornets face off against the Chester Yellowjackets at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. As for High Island, they will square off against Leggett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
