Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, George County couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Neshoba Central Rockets by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday. The Rebels' defeat signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Blakey Slay was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Howell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.

George County's loss dropped their record down to 33-3. As for Neshoba Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-10 record this season.

While George County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
