Softball Recap: Coginchaug Regional Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Coginchaug Regional and North Branford, and North Branford kept the tradition alive. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in April.

Emily Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

Coginchaug Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for North Branford, they pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Coming up, Coginchaug Regional will face off against Ellis RVT at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for North Branford, they will host Hale Ray at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Noises will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Thunderbirds surely won't give up without a fight.
