Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Jourdanton

Jourdanton had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Marion Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Indians/Squaws have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hailey Sralik made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bobbiejo Gonzales, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Floyd, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Jourdanton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marion only posted an OBP of .240.

Jourdanton's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Marion, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 13-5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jourdanton will face off against Poteet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marion, they will take on Cornerstone Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
