Softball Recap: Nevada Union Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Nevada Union ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Twelve Bridges Rhinos, sneaking past 4-3. This was payback for the Miners, who suffered a 13-11 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jessica Rivenes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rivenes was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jamie LeClaire, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.

The victory made it two in a row for Nevada Union and bumps their season record up to 5-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Twelve Bridges, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Nevada Union will venture away from home to face off against Placer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Miners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hillmen have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Twelve Bridges, they will face off against Roseville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
