Volleyball Recap: Van Wert Takes a Loss

Van Wert extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-16. They lost 3-0 to the Bryan Golden Bears. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Golden Bears from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Libby Jones paced Van Wert's offense, picking up four kills. Jones got some help from Brissia Ickes and her eight assists. Finally, Bella Wise kept Van Wert's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

As for Bryan, they moved to 6-13 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since October 3, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Bryan found their leader in sophomore Reese Ruffer, who had five digs and four aces. Miley Mason also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Van Wert has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Jefferson on the 29th. As for Bryan, they will square off against Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
