Recap: West Tallahatchie Choctaws vs. Coahoma County Red Panthers
The West Tallahatchie Choctaws lost against the Coahoma County Red Panthers back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. West Tallahatchie took a 39-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coahoma County. While losing is never fun, West Tallahatchie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Coahoma County is ranked 36th).
When it comes to explaining why West Tallahatchie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Drexel Miller. Despite the final result, he scored eight points.
Coahoma County found their leader in underclassman Caleb Hearns, who scored no points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him.
West Tallahatchie has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Coahoma County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
West Tallahatchie will head out on the road to face off against South Delta at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in South Delta's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten games. Coahoma County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Side at 7:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023.
