Makenzie Henthorn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paisley Fraidenburg, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Megan Fugleberg, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Mark Morris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodland). They put the hurt on Washougal with a sharp 21-3 victory on Monday. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Like Mark Morris, Woodland also got a great game from a two-way player: Addi Christensen. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Christensen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Lexi Manalili was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Brynn Skelton was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Mark Morris pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Woodland, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mark Morris has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .552. However, it's not like Woodland struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mark Morris took their win against Woodland in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Beavers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
