Mineral Ridge waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Waterloo Vikings 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Xavier Klamer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Jack Gillie and AJ Sandy did most of the damage at the plate: Gillie got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Sandy went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs. Gillie has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Harding, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Mineral Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waterloo only posted a batting average of .154.

Mineral Ridge pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Waterloo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mineral Ridge will venture away from home to take on Mathews at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Waterloo, they will head out to face off against Windham at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
