Basketball Game Preview: St. Bede Bruins vs. Roanoke-Benson Rockets + How To Watch

The St. Bede Bruins will venture away from home to face off against the Roanoke-Benson Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Bede has given up an average of 53.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Bede fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Wethersfield on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flying Geese by a score of 71-69. On the bright side, the 69- point effort marked the Bruins' highest-scoring game to date.

Despite the loss, St. Bede had strong showings from Lili McClain, who shot 55% from beyond the arc to rack up 26 points and four steals, and Savannah Bray, who went 9-for-16 on her way to 24 points and seven boards. The Bruins are 2-1 when McClain posts 15 or more points, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hannah Heiberger, who almost dropped a double-double with ten rebounds and nine assists.

Meanwhile, Roanoke-Benson entered their tilt with Pontiac on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-43 W against the Indians.

Roanoke-Benson's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for St. Bede, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

St. Bede ended up a good deal behind Roanoke-Benson when the teams last played back in January, losing 45-27. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
