Baseball Recap: Fort Meade Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Fort Meade hadn't beaten Hardee on the road since February 27, 2020 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Miners walked away with a 5-1 win over the Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 back in February.

Zachary Brooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fort Meade saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Harrell, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Fort Meade's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hardee, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-9 record.

Fort Meade has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Santa Fe Catholic on the 1st. As for Hardee, they will face off against DeSoto County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.61 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
