Basketball Game Preview: Benicia Panthers vs. Redwood Giants

The Benicia Panthers will face off against the Redwood Giants at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Benicia faced off against Liberty on Friday. Benicia took a hard 77-60 fall against Liberty. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Lions are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Redwood waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Badgers by a score of 59-46.

Redwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Benicia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Benicia didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Redwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 61-56 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benicia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
