League recap: Summit Christian climbs in state rankings with win

Summit Christian moved up to 451 from 491 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A District 7. The Saints climbed the ranks as a result of a 48-18 win over Northwest Christian.

Jupiter Christian took down Vanguard 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Highlands Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trystan Lago threw for 183 and three touchdowns and Kyle Audet had 98 yards receiving. On the ground Arelious Burns chipped in 158 yards. Burns helped Highlands Christian's passing attack out by catching two balls for 28 yards.

The Knights' Lago and Audet have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lago has thrown for 729 yards this season, while Audet, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 13 catches for 300 yards. Kelvin Taylor from Glades Day leads the league in rushing with 884 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Coral Springs Christian takes on the Gators. The Crusaders are in third place, while Glades Day is in first place.

There should be lots of points scored when Coral Springs Christian and Pete Walker's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Monte Gonzalez's team comes in having scored 140 this season, while the Gators have scored 152. The Crusaders scored 20 points last week as they fell to Highlands Christian.

Summit Christian made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,445 from 11,855. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 48-18 victory over the Eagles last week.
