Volleyball Recap: West Carroll Takes a Loss

West Carroll was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the River Ridge Wildcats. The Thunder were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-10.

West Carroll's offense was headlined by Avery Mangler and Claire Handel, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Audri Wilcox and her eight assists. Finally, Mangler was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

AVA KETELSEN was a one-woman wrecking crew For River Ridge. as she had 15 kills, nine digs, three aces, and one block. Another player making a difference was ELLIE RIFE, who had 22 assists and two aces.

West Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for River Ridge, they pushed their record up to 7-17-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, West Carroll will challenge Dakota at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for River Ridge, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against East Dubuque on the 9th.
