Baseball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Mount Dora Christian Academy's Winning Streak

After a string of three wins, Mount Dora Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 6-3 to the Foundation Academy Lions. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jayden Wise put in work no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wise was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other pitching news, Mount Dora Christian Academy got a good showing from Justin Martin, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Wise wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Calton, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another was Braden Waring, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Foundation Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Mount Dora Christian Academy and Foundation Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bulldogs will welcome Seven Rivers Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something Mount Dora Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Foundation Academy, they will square off against Montverde Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
