They rang in the new year with a 73-62 victory over the Pioneer Charter School of Science Panthers on Friday. The Wolves' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Excel Academy Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angel Figueroa, who posted 39 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Figueroa has scored at least a third of Excel Academy Charter's points. Another player making a difference was Davier Hernandez, who earned 21 points.

Excel Academy Charter's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Pioneer Charter School of Science, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.
