Volleyball Game Preview: McCook Bison vs. Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves

The McCook Bison will take on the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves in a tournament on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with McCook sitting on eight straight wins and Maywood/Hayes Center on three.

McCook had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Hershey on Thursday. The Bison put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Bison not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 28th (when they won 3-0).

One reason for the win was McCook's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-16.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Maywood/Hayes Center and Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood], and Maywood/Hayes Center kept the tradition alive. The Wolves walked away with a 2-0 win over Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] on Tuesday.

Maywood/Hayes Center easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-21.

McCook better focus on containing Jaylee Sellers and Ensley Lawless as the pair were huge in Maywood/Hayes Center's win. Sellers had four digs and two aces, while Lawless had five digs and one assist.

McCook's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.

McCook beat Maywood/Hayes Center 2-0 in their previous meeting on Saturday. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
