Baseball Game Preview: John Glenn Little Muskies vs. Garaway Pirates

The John Glenn Little Muskies will venture away from home to face off against the Garaway Pirates at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. John Glenn will be strutting in after a victory while Garaway will be coming in after a defeat.

John Glenn not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024 (when they won 18-4). They put the hurt on Maysville with a sharp 10-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Little Muskies in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Justin Stambush made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Carter Merry and Kayson Hoff did most of the damage at the plate: Merry went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Hoff went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double. That's the most runs Merry has posted since back in May of 2024. Owen Edwards was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

John Glenn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Tuscarawas Valley hit Garaway with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 5-4.

John Glenn's record is now 4-9. As for Garaway, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

John Glenn suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Garaway in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Little Muskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
