Softball Recap: Middlesboro Yellowjackets vs. Bell County Bobcats

If Middlesboro was feeling good off their 10-2 takedown of Campbell County last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Middlesboro Yellowjackets took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bell County Bobcats on Tuesday. Middlesboro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bell County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

For Bell County's part, Adyson Scott made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. Scott was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Addison Maiden was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Jayda Boateng was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5.

Middlesboro's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Bell County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middlesboro will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Lynn Camp at 6:00 p.m. Lynn Camp is coming into the game with three straight wins at home, so Middlesboro will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Bell County, they will head out on the road to face off against Barbourville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bell County is facing Barbourville at the right time seeing as Barbourville is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
